Term Classes: Creative art classes for children like no other. Combining traditional and contemporary mediums, our art classes are designed to bring out the very best in each artistic learner, offering experiences that teach lifelong skills in an organic way. Our approach guarantees holistic growth in all learners.
Holiday Program: Every experience is built on an inquiry-based approach to learning and teaching, where children explore big ideas through art, materials, and collaboration.
Events: Our fun and themed parties are also carefully designed around clear learning outcomes. Children are not only celebrating and creating but also developing skills in problem-solving, storytelling, observation, and self-expression.
Weekend Pop-up Classes: Limited time weekend classes with an inquiry-focused investigation. These weekend classes offer a taste of how our term classes run with all the creative explorations included.
Our classes and parties honour children’s creativity, build confidence, and connect imagination to real-world learning outcomes, giving families a meaningful and joyful experience every time. We have set up our atelier-style studio in the heart of Westgate, at a little unit. We have been working hard to make it a joyful and inviting environment for our children and families, and we have been sharing our progress and behind the scenes over on our Instagram!

Our Term Classes
At Whimsy & Co. Studio, we offer small classes of up to 12 students with two highly experienced teachers. This small class ensures that all children's ideas are valued, heard, and respected, and gives enough opportunity for the ideas to be thoroughly explored. We are the only Art class in New Zealand to offer inquiry-based, child-led art classes, that teach children to be creative problem-solvers. Each of our classes are tailored to your child's strengths and interests so no two art classes will be the same, and no two artworks will be the same. Unlike typical art classes that focus purely on technical aspects, we value preserving your child's imagination and their spark.
Each class is divided into developmentally appropriate age groups, guaranteeing that your child will be challenged according to their skill levels. This means that your child can grow with Whimsy & Co. throughout their lifelong learning journey.

Ages 4 to 7
Whimsical and Curious
Journey into Imaginations
Each session invites curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Children express themselves through art-making, storytelling, and hands-on experiences in a warm, supportive, and child-led environment. These playful sessions invite young creators to explore big ideas through experimenting, making discoveries, and expressing themselves in a supportive space where their ideas lead the way. The small mixed-age group environment offers the younger children to learn through observation and the older children to learn by leading.

Ages 8 to 12
From Budding Imaginarium Artists to Studio Explorers
Creating with purpose and meaning. These classes introduce deeper creative thinking, technique development, and exploration of artistic identity. Children experiment with materials, composition, and mixed media while staying rooted in imaginative play. These studio experiences are excellent for young creatives to think big, and experiment boldly. The small mixed-age group environment offers the younger children to learn through observation and the older children to learn by leading.

We’re more than art classes! We’re a space for children to explore who they are and how they see the world. Our wide selection of programmes all connect with Te Whāriki and the New Zealand Curriculum, weaving together creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. We are a pair of highly experienced teachers with more than twenty combined years of working alongside children, and we both hold degrees in education and arts. Every session is designed to spark curiosity, collaboration, encourage risk-taking, and celebrate children’s ideas in a supportive, child-led environment. With a balance of play, learning, and artistry, we help children grow as confident, creative and imaginative thinkers and doers!
